Description
Position Summary
The Pilot is responsible for the safe operation of rotor-wing air medical transport missions while serving as the final authority for aircraft operations. The role works alongside medical professionals to provide critical care transportation, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, operational procedures, safety management systems, and company standards while supporting life-saving missions.
Schedule
• 14 Days On / 14 Days Off
Responsibilities
• Retain final authority for the safe operation of the aircraft
• Ensure assigned aircraft is airworthy and required documents are onboard
• Accept, reject, terminate, or modify flights based on operational conditions
• Utilize proper Crew Resource Management (CRM) techniques
• Represent the organization professionally to patients, vendors, and employees
• Participate in the Safety Management System (SMS)
• Obtain flight briefings, weather information, and operational instructions
• Ensure weather and aircraft performance requirements are met
• Ensure flight plans and flight locating procedures are followed
• Verify aircraft weight and balance compliance
• Report FAA violations or incidents to the Chief Pilot
• Ensure aircraft equipment checks are completed
• Conduct passenger and medical crew briefings
• Report maintenance discrepancies to maintenance personnel and operational control
• Maintain knowledge of operational manuals, regulations, and procedures
• Participate in pre-flight risk assessment processes
• Perform Tier Two operational control functions
Requirements
• FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate – Rotorcraft Helicopter
• Instrument Helicopter Rating
• FAA Second Class Medical Certificate
• 2,000 Hours Total Flight Time
• 1,200 Hours Helicopter Flight Time
• 1,000 Hours PIC Time
• 50 Hours Unaided Night Flight Time
• 100 Hours Aided Night Flight Time
• 500 Hours Turbine Time
• Valid Driver’s License
OR
• 1,700 Hours Total Flight Time with Director of Operations and Chief Pilot Approval
Preferred Qualifications
• ATP Certificate
• 1,000 Hours Turbine Time
• Previous Air Medical Experience
