About the Company
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is the statewide law enforcement agency responsible for investigative, intelligence, homeland security, forensic, and aviation support operations throughout South Carolina.
Position Summary
SLED is seeking a Law Enforcement Pilot I to support statewide law enforcement aviation missions including surveillance, search and rescue, aerial firefighting, SWAT support, and counter-terrorism operations while serving as Pilot in Command in agency aircraft.
Schedule
43-hour work week with varied hours based on operational requirements and non-routine situations.
Responsibilities
• Operate as Pilot in Command in agency aircraft
• Support law enforcement aviation missions throughout South Carolina
• Conduct day and night flight operations
• Support search and rescue, aerial firefighting, surveillance, and SWAT missions
• Maintain FAA flight currency and training requirements
• Complete aviation reports and operational documentation
• Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies
• Support aviation maintenance and operational readiness
Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent pilot certification/rating experience
• FAA Private Pilot Certificate with Rotorcraft rating
• Ability to obtain South Carolina Class I Law Enforcement Certification
• Ability to obtain FAA Class II Medical Certificate
• Ability to comply with FAA regulations
• Strong decision-making skills in high-stress environments
• Ability to work varied and non-standard schedules
• Must reside within 30 miles of SLED Headquarters
