Description
Position Summary
The Survey Pilot I is responsible for planning, preparing, and executing aerial photography and data acquisition missions utilizing single-engine and multi-engine aircraft. This role supports aerial mapping operations by safely collecting imagery and geospatial data that meets project specifications while minimizing the need for re-flights or additional production efforts. The Survey Pilot I may also serve as an Aerial Acquisition Technician (AAT) as needed.
Responsibilities
• Plan and execute aerial photography and data acquisition missions
• Review project specifications and maps to understand mission requirements
• Conduct pre-flight inspections and report aircraft discrepancies
• Coordinate with ATC, TRACON, military, and special use airspace authorities for airspace access
• Verify all mission-critical equipment, supplies, and documentation are onboard
• Participate in mission planning and daily operational meetings
• Operate aircraft in compliance with FAA regulations, company procedures, and operating manuals
• Monitor weather conditions and coordinate with flight operations personnel
• Conduct post-flight inspections and secure aircraft after missions
• Manage aircraft fueling, loading, and weight and balance calculations
• Maintain flight logs, aircraft logs, and operational records
• Arrange travel logistics including hotels, rental vehicles, and airline reservations
• Assist with updates to flight operations procedures and manuals
• Participate in recurrent training and professional development activities
Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Valid Commercial Pilot Certificate
• Instrument Rating
• Multi-Engine Rating
• High Performance Endorsement
• Current First or Second Class Medical Certificate
• 500 hours total flight time required
• Valid Driver’s License with safe driving record
• Valid Passport or ability to obtain within three months of hire
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Computer proficiency and file management experience
• Cell phone with texting capabilities
• Personal credit card with at least $3,000 available credit for travel expenses
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
• Ability to pass DOT pre-employment, random, and post-accident drug testing
Preferred Qualifications
• Associate’s degree in Aviation or related field
• Experience with aerial mapping or aerial survey operations
