About the Company

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) supports statewide transportation operations and public service initiatives throughout Nevada, including state-operated aviation operations focused on safe and efficient government transportation missions.


Position Summary

The Nevada Department of Transportation is seeking a Chief Pilot to oversee state flight operations while piloting multi-engine jet and turboprop aircraft, supervising flight personnel, managing aviation resources, and ensuring safe and compliant aviation operations.


Responsibilities

• Pilot multi-engine jet and turboprop aircraft in varying operational environments
• Conduct pre-flight and post-flight operational activities
• Schedule routes and monitor weather conditions
• Calculate load and fuel requirements
• Conduct aircraft inspections and ensure airworthiness compliance
• Supervise fueling, preheating, and aircraft securing procedures
• Maintain aircraft operational and component records
• Conduct or schedule required flight personnel training
• Supervise and evaluate aviation staff and subordinate supervisors
• Develop operational policies and procedures
• Prepare and monitor aviation operations budgets


Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 6,000 total PIC flight hours in single or multi-engine land aircraft
• 200 instrument hours in actual or simulated conditions
• 200 flight hours within the preceding 12 months
• 2,500 PIC multi-engine hours
• 1,000 PIC multi-engine turbojet hours
• 500 PIC multi-engine turboprop hours
• Ability to maintain required FAA certifications and operational qualifications
