My resume tells a story of a young man from humble beginnings with a dream and passion for aviation.

In 2017 I got a job at Oakland airport as a ramper, AKA baggage handler, for JetBlue Airlines. I was inspired by a first officer and met a mentor who convinced me to join the military to secure funding for my dreams. That same year I joined the Air Force Reserves and shipped out to boot camp at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

After getting back from basic training, I was stationed at Travis AFB, working as a hydraulics specialist on the C-17. In 2020, when the pandemic hit, I finally saved up enough to get my PPL until I was laid off. I decided to pivot and go to San Francisco State University to gain access to my GI Bill for funds since I was newly unemployed.

I later found employment at American Airlines full-time, where I began my balancing act. I was simultaneously working nights full-time, going to school full-time at SFSU for business management, while still participating in the Air Force Reserves. That’s two jobs and two education journeys at the same time.

Fast forward to today I am now a CFI, a veteran from the Air Force Reserves. I received a Bachelor of Science in business management from SFSU, and I am still employed with American Airlines. Winston Churchill says courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm, and I never gave up on my dreams of becoming a pilot. This is why I think you should give me the chance to join your team. I am a hard worker, and I never give up.

Sincerely,

David Regis
