Work Experience

SUU COpilot
SUU Aviation August 15, 2025 - January 1, 2024 My experience at Southern Utah University as a Co-Pilot Captain, tutor, and academic mentor has given me a strong, real-world foundation for being a Certified Flight Instructor. I’ve worked closely with student pilots from day one—helping them juggle academics, scheduling, and flight training while figuring out how to study, prepare, and think like pilots. Tutoring and leading weekly study sessions taught me how to explain complex topics in a way that makes sense and sticks, whether it’s aerodynamics, regulations, or scenario-based decision making. Being a peer mentor also let me see flight training from both sides, which helps me better anticipate student challenges and support them through them. I take pride in communicating clearly, staying calm under pressure, and creating a welcoming, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, building confidence, and progressing toward their goals. Served as peer-mentor and operational liaison for a collegiate aviation program, supporting first-year pilot trainees in academic, scheduling, and flight-training processes. Acted as ambassador for the flight school’s brand — greeting visitors, assisting prospective students, and contributing to program marketing and events. Facilitated student connection and community engagement through planning monthly aviation-training events and resolving student issues proactively. Maintained professionalism, high GPA (3.8), and aviation-program rating eligibility while fulfilling 10-20 hours/week of mentor/admin duties. Gained experience in program operations, student scheduling, communication and logistics — giving unique insight into both student and instructor perspectives. Provided individualized and group aviation tutoring for five semesters, covering aerodynamics, FAA regulations, flight planning, aircraft systems, and scenario-based training. Instructed the weekly Fixed-Wing C.O. Pilot Solo/Private Cert Study Sessions, improving student checkride readiness and fostering a high-performance, safety-focused training culture.
