I am a commercial pilot looking for an opportunity. I am sure you have read hundreds of these, where I tell you I am a safety minded pilot with great attention to detail and a passion for aviation. I have been sending out that same cover letter for the last year. Who am I? I am a lower time pilot with all the requisite certifications to fly commercially. What is the issue? All jobs want 100 hours of MEL, Turbine Time, or previous Part 135 experience. Where am I supposed to get these experiences if everyone wants them as a prerequisite? What I really need is an opportunity, a person willing to take on a lower time pilot who is dedicated to his craft and help them launch their aviation career. I think that person is you. You will get this person in return:
I am a 23-year veteran of the armed forces. I have professional experience, discipline, and a lifetime of risk assessment and risk mitigation practical application. You will get a dedicated employee who has shown the character to fully commit to an occupation, who has built personal and familial resilience to long hours and time away from home. In short, you will get exactly what you are looking for.
- My 23 years of service have made me comfortable with leading, following direction, training all manners of personnel, and being a positive team member.
- Instructing maintains my flight skills, keeps me up to date on FAA rules changes, and ensures I remain on the cutting edge of the industry.
- I stand ready to relocate, join your team, and immediately make a positive impact.
